My work is influenced by decorative
period designs and by the art of many ancient civilizations including
Asian, Mayan and Native American.
Working in clay started in my
mother’s studio when I was eight or ten. As a second generation
ceramist, working in Cincinnati, my clay includes some of the local clay
from the Ohio River Valley. The glaze is a smooth satin made from the
ashes of rose petals formulated from old family recipes. The flecks in
the glaze reveal the iron deposits in our native clay. All the glazes
are food safe. The soft muted coloration has been developed to co-ordinate
with contemporary and traditional living spaces
